As a college admissions expert, career counselor, and therapist, I’ve spent nearly two decades helping teens succeed. What I’ve learned is that modern college prep is part of the problem. In today’s high-pressure world, even high-achieving teens struggle—not just with grades, but with stress, resilience, and confidence. Even with straight A’s, teens feel anxious and sad. In fact, 4 out of 10 high school students report persistent feelings of sadness or hopelessness (CDC,  2023)!

This event is for parents who:

  • Have a teenager in middle school or early high school (before 11th grade).

  • Worry about missing out on key opportunities for your teen.

  • Feel nervous about navigating high school pressures.

  • Want to motivate your teen without stressing them out or pushing them away.

  • Want your teen to feel capable as they move through the world.

  • Want to navigate college prep in a way that doesn’t cause stress.

  • Want practical strategies & tools to proactively support your teen’s mental health and wellness.

Unfortunately this stress doesn’t end with an acceptance letter. The stress only ends when we teach teens how to balance wellness with success. Over the past decade, I’ve crafted an alternative way of doing college prep. Each year, the results are always the same - they get into their ideal schools and the process is “easy” and “fun” and “not at all stressful.”

When we guide teens through a process of self-discovery, they no longer say “I don’t know.” When we give teens tools to pursue their passions, their resumes grow impressively. When we teach teens how to engage in meaningful college research, they lean in. Teens want to be excited about their future. If they’re not excited, they’re missing tangible skills and strategies.

Join me in Raising a Joyful Teen to learn how parents set the foundation for Joyful College Prep early and with intention.
